The Carinthian Lakes - Austria’s Cycling Paradise

11 Day Cycling Holiday

‘One Night Stops’ 7 Day

Dip into the invigorating landscape of the Carinthian Lakes on the ‘Austrian Riviera’ - the southernmost province of this stunning country.

During ten days of lakeside touring, you’ll be enchanted by picturesque shores of gorgeous beaches and secluded valleys dotted with sleepy hamlets and framed by dramatic high peaks offering panoramic views. En route, we discover pilgrimage churches, imposing castles, a 16th century Italian palace and a Benedictine Abbey.

Highlights will include:

  • Spittal - historic trade centre boasting fine architecture and stately 16th century Italian palace
  • Carinthia - make a splash in one of the magnificent 1,270 lakes – ideal for alfresco bathing
  • St Veit an der Glan - the former regional capital features an impressively grand square
  • Hochosterwitz Castle - dating back to 860 AD, this imposing fortress was designed to repel invaders
  • Maria Saal and Maria Wörth - pay homage to two exquisitely beautiful pilgrimage churches

A fantastic holiday - it was difficult at times not to start humming tunes from the “Sound of Music” as we cycled through alpine meadows marvelling at the magnificent scenery. Many Thanks.
